Jake Lost a Tooth!!!!

So yesterday Jake comes home from school and we are talking on the sofa and I notice that his tooth looks a little funky. After closer examination we discover that the tooth is on the brink of falling out! Jake had noticed it loosening up about a month ago, but hadn't said anything about it in awhile so it was a little shocking to see how close it was to falling out.

A while ago Chris' mom had given the boys Tooth Fairy Time. So last night we decided to bring it out so Jake could learn all about losing his teeth. The book was really good, it went through why teeth fall out, how they fall out, what to do and not to do when a tooth is loose, and what to do after the tooth falls out. It even comes with a chart to mark down when each tooth falls out and a special pillow shaped like a tooth with a pocket to put the tooth in for the tooth fairy. Chris and Jake had a lot of fun reading the book and learning about the process.

So this morning Jake was eager to try to get the tooth out and one suggestion the tooth book had was to eat a chewy bagel. Well, Jake loves having strawberry bagels every morning so he was extra excited to know that his favorite breakfast food might help the tooth fall out. Needless to say, it worked! However, there is a down side to having a tooth fall out while eating. That's right, Jake swallowed his tooth! We had even warned him to be careful because this was a possibility. Of course this didn't bother Jake, he was just so excited to see that empty space in the front of his mouth. Now Chris however was a little bummed, he was really looking forward to the first experience with the tooth fairy for Jake, but he'll just have to wait until the next one falls out.
